NAB & NCB PROVIDE $2.4 MILLION IN FINANCING TO FOSTER NATIVE AMERICAN HOMEOWNERSHIP IN NEBRASKA
November 2, 2004

(Denver, CO) Native American Bank (NAB) has partnered with National Cooperative Bank (NCB) to provide a total of $2.4 million of financing for the development of residential and commercial properties in Ho-Chunk Village, a development wholly owned by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The development properties are located on fee simple land adjacent to the Winnebago Indian Reservation.

Of the joint financing, $900,000 was provided by NAB with $1.5 million financed by NCB. For the two-phase undertaking, NCB committed to purchasing a $500,000 participation in Native American Bank's $1.12 million loan package for Phase 1 of the project. Subsequent to the completion of this funding, NCB will finance another $1.0 million of the total $1.3 million loan needed to complete Phase 2 of the development. Native American Bank will finance the remaining $300,000 of this final phase.

"NAB has a long and valued partnership with Ho-Chunk," said Tim Green, NAB's Assistant Vice President. "Ho-Chunk, Inc. was the first customer generated from the commercial loan activities out of NAB's corporate offices in Denver, Colorado. This project and the success of Ho-Chunk, Inc. is a shining example of the opportunities that are available through cooperative partnerships such as the one between NAB and NCB."

Ho-Chunk Village is working with an urban planner to maximize their land usage and fulfill their community's needs. The plan calls for 120 homes to be completed and the plans for the downtown business center are moving at a rapid pace. Residents are now able to purchase single-family homes, with the help of subsidies and move out of the government-owned housing, previously the only living option. The ongoing work is also bringing back tribe members, many of whom had relocated to more urban areas in search of a higher-quality of housing and employment.
